On Eagle's Wings Ecumenical Ministries Inc.
"Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
Melissa comes to Canada May 23rd and will be ready to serve!
In the fall of 2012 I wrote an article in the On Eagle’s Wings newsletter, SOARING. I wrote of my conversation with Bishop Chris Williams (Fourth Anglican Bishop of the Arctic, past On Eagle’s Wings Canadian board member and On Eagle’s Wings pastoral/hospitality support for our Yellowknife Ministry Base.) At the time I was very disappointed that another ministry candidate was unable to join On Eagle’s Wings and serve in northern communities. On Eagle’s Wings has been trying to fill this ministry void since 2006. Bishop Chris’s response to my disappointment was, “Our time…is not necessarily God’s time.”
It is wonderful to write to you saying, “Let us thank God that God’s time … has become our time.”
With gratitude and excitement I announce that Melissa May has accepted the call to join the team of On Eagle’s Wings. As Melissa is Lutheran, she is going through the process to be accepted on the Roster of the ELCIC Alberta and the Territories Synod. I am anticipating that all will go well. Melissa will then be consecrated in Virginia, installed at both On Eagle’s Wings AGM/Banquets with hopes to move to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories this June 2013. Much work is to be done regarding raising financial support, immigration work, finding a home for Melissa and assuring all is in place.
Join us and praise God for what is to be. Exciting, life-giving times are ahead. Pray for Melissa and encourage your parish to help support Melissa…as able through financial support, providing a warm northern welcome and encouragement as she becomes the first Diaconal Minister to serve with On Eagle’s Wings.

VOLUNTEER in the North – It is time to plan!
Volunteering for northern Bible Camps (previously called Schools) with On Eagle’s Wings provides a unique opportunity to share God’s love and build relationships with our northern brothers and sisters. People volunteer for many reasons. Some feel a deep sense of God’s call to serve; others are drawn by the stark beauty of the landscape or want to learn more about the people and their culture. Still others simply love children and want to teach them. No matter what the reason, be sure that God is already at work both in you and the people you will visit.
For many, being with children in a northern Bible Camp is the definite volunteer experience in the North. Answer your questions how this might look by calling: 1-866-441-6594. We welcome your interest.
Perhaps you would like to volunteer with On Eagle’s Wings but do not want to be in a Bible Camp. That is not a problem! On Eagle’s Wings is a large family, and there is lots of room for the gifts that each person brings. We welcome to learn about your gifts. The variety of ways in which you can volunteer and touch the lives of northern people is limited only by imagination. Please call us.
On Eagle's Wings is an ecumenical Christian ministry that proclaims Jesus Christ and serves the Church and individuals in remote and isolated areas of northern Canada.

Don't walk in front of me . . . I may not follow
Don't walk behind me . . . I may not lead
Just walk beside me and be my friend.
