Summer Bible School is one part of the ministry of On Eagle’s Wings. Volunteer teachers from all over Canada and the United States apply to teach the curriculum that is written by the On Eagle’s Wings staff. Together, southern and northern volunteers teach the children in many remote villages of northern Canada. Southern volunteers who are guests of the community grow in their awareness of God’s presence in aboriginal cultures and faith communities. Northern volunteers learn how, they too, can teach their own children. Teachers enjoy the privilege it is to nurture a child’s sense of belonging and identity in God’s family. In using the curriculum they share Bible stories in real, relevant and relational ways.
The On Eagle’s Wings Summer Bible School has traditionally been a five-day program. Most volunteers make a commitment for one or more weeks, plus their travel time. Northern children are glad that southern volunteers arrive and want to spend as much time as possible together. There is opportunity for lots of informal time with the children. The children are usually between the ages of 4 and 12 years.

All persons travelling between the USA and Canada require a valid passport.
Once a Summer Bible School teacher application is approved, each volunteer will be asked to sign a participation form and provide a current and clear criminal records check. Because our first concern must always be for the people we serve, these forms need to be received at the On Eagle's Wings office at least one week prior to the volunteer's arrival in the North. As well a criminal information check for the purpose of working with or being involved with Vulnerable persons must be provided.
Vulnerable Persons definition:
Vulnerable persons mean persons who, because of their age (under the age of 18 years of age), a disability, or other circumstances, whether temporary or permanent, are in a position of dependence on others or are otherwise at a greater risk than the general population of being harmed by persons in a position of authority or trust relative to them.
Information about obtaining a criminal record check will be provided after we approve your application. All criminal record checks are held in a secure confidential file at the On Eagle's Wings office.
